Biopharmaceutical cold chain is a major part of the supply chain in the healthcare industry and cold chain logistics services helps the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry maintain a continual supply of drugs from suppliers and distributors in varied (often global) locations.
Given the growth in cold chain over the past decade, there are still limitations to the global supply chain, especially in the developing world. Given the technology shift required to effectively target extended market diseases, spray drying of biopharmaceuticals has been demonstrated as a scalable thermostabilization technique to address this challenge.
In response, we want to share a presentation deck is titled “Spray Drying of Biopharmaceuticals for Mitigation of Cold Chain Requirements” from Sonia Bedi at GSK. This presentation discusses education around cold chain technology, the “WHY”, biopharma cold chain statistics including the emerging market problem and the “How”.
It additionally examines the vision for spray drying in biopharmaceutical process, spray drying data (including scale-up, powder filling data for a monoclonal antibody, opportunities vs. limitations and key takeaways.
